Perhaps even better is the fact that you’ll get a massive 12 high-yield cartridges with the printer.

The printer boasts a print speed of up to 12 pages per minute, which isn’t bad, plus it offers a 2.7-inch touch-screen for easy control. Why it’s great: The Brother MFC-J985DW XL may not be as high-capacity as some others on this list, but for the small business that doesn’t plan on printing a ton but still wants a printer just in case the need arises, it’s a great option. The Canon Maxify 5420 is relatively easy to use too thanks to its 3.5-inch display. On top of that, the printer can print at a resolution of up to 600 x 1,200, which should be fine for most small businesses apart from photo-based businesses, and it can scan and fax documents too. In fact, this device is capable of printing up around 15-24 pages per minute, which is far more than what most home printers have to offer. Thanks though, even I would kinda like to give Canon a try after suffering with HP through all these years and especially after seeing so many good reviews on their printers too.Why it’s great: Now only does the Canon Maxify 5420 offer high-quality printing, scanning, and faxing, but it does so quickly and efficiently. I too have very light use of printer actually (hardly 50-75 prints/month, rarely 100+) and that's why I was looking for laser because no ink clogging there. And I currently own HP DeskJet and have had enough with it. Yeah, I've heard about Brother but the thing is, their service isn't that reliable here in my area. At work, we've had ENDLESS driver issues from our networked HP printers they get frequently stomped by Windows Updates, suggesting they don't put their files where Microsoft says they should. Of the two you list, I would probably choose the Canon. Previously, I had owned a couple of Brother inkjet printers, but my usage was so light that ink often dried out and/or clogged nozzles that's why I switched to laser.

Toner for each was readily available, and cheaper than HP or Dell. I gave away a Brother HL-2070N (?) that had worked flawlessly (although light duty) for probably 8 years, when I got my Brother MFC-9330CDW, and that's been working fine (also light duty) for at least two years now. I have been very happy with Brother laser printers, although my sample size is very small.
